On a Letter to my Dearest Friends

To my dearest friends:

I believe you will know who you are.

I am lucky.  I am fortunate to have obtained the friendship of women of such caliber.  Not everyone sees it all of time.  And it’s true, sometimes I forget, too – lost in my own selfish thoughts and ponderings, yearnings and worries.  But it IS true – I am favored by such friendship as yours.

Women of strength, of fortitude, of charm and brilliance.  Full of life, full of quirks, but most of all – full of love.  I am lucky enough to have women such as that for my friends.

Women who forgive me my flaws, give me unsolicited and always spot on advice.  Women who pick me up when I am down and who share in my joys.

I am fortunate, indeed.

And whether we are separated by miles, or busy social lives, or time, or see each other every day, know that I carry you in my heart.

Know how much you mean to me.  Thank you.

On Friendship

“Just thinking about a friend makes you want to do a happy dance, because a friend is someone who loves you in spite of your faults.”
― Charles M. Schulz

I will be forever grateful for the friends I have in my life.  We do not always keep in the best of touch; we do not have to to talk to each other every day, but I know that they will be there for me when I need to share happy news, complain about a crappy day at work, share a funny quote that my son said that day, or exclaim over my amazing shoe clearance find!  And they know that I am here for them in exactly the same way.  To offer reassurances when they are feeling down or not up to a task, to tell them it is going to be okay when something bad happens – because we will MAKE it be okay, to tell them that, yes, everything does happen for a reason, to exclaim over an amazing show clearance find!  After all, that is what friends are for.  This is how friends – real, true, honest-to-goodness, soul-similar, friends-for-the-rest-of-life, can-pick-up-a-phone-after-a-month-and-converse-like-only-a-day-has-passed, or tell-crazy-jokes-with-the-same-twisted-sense-of-humor-and-laugh-uproariously – are.

I really love my friends – old and new – and I really just felt that today I needed to tell them that.

Thanks for being in my life friends! 🙂
